It's Monday! What are you reading?

I’m joining Jen & Kellee (and many other bloggers) in discussing what we are reading this week. Join us! Go to their site and link up your own blog.

I didn’t quite get through all of the 70s Newbery books that I need to read – several more to polish off and then I’ll be ready to move on to the 80s. Some great books this week. I highly recommend Exclamation Mark and Follow Follow. Also, I am grateful for the #nerdbery challenge for introducing me to books like Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH. Love that one.

Here’s what I read last week:

This week’s plan is to finish the 70s and move into the 80s Newbery books. 28 books left to finish the challenge!

Happy Reading!
Katherine

  1. I just re-read Mrs. Frisby last year-still very good after all this time. Glad to hear you liked it too. I'll look for Exclamation Point by Amy Rosenthal-she is good! Thanks, Katherine.

  3. You remind me that I need to read some more Newbery books. Summer of the Swans is at our local library so I am writing a note to myself to go get it.

Mrs Frisby and the Rats I must read too, I remember years back another teacher reading it to her class, but I have never read it.

  4. Hi Katherine, I keep seeing Exclamation Mark on everyone's blogs, but I have not seen it in book stores up here in Maine yet. I am starting to poke away at the Newbery's. Right now I am listening to The Dark Frigate, but I'm not loving it. Have a great week!

  5. I think Exclamation Mark comes out this week - it was at a Children's Lit event for sale early this weekend. Dark Frigate makes me shudder. I really didn't like that one!

  9. Hi Katherine,
Loved your post about reading this week! Exclamation Point looks like one to own and you'll be happy to hear that I have another 100 pages left in Will Grayson, Will Grayson. I picked it back up after your post last week...
    Have a great week,
    Melanie

Hi Katherine, Mrs Frisby and the Rats of NIMH has always been a favorite of mine - you might want to consider watching Flowers for Algernon, they could be good companion materials. I'm intrigued by Follow Follow - having read Marilyn Singer's Mirror Mirror - I'm sure this one would be great too. Thanks for sharing all these.

  11. Oh there's a follow up to Mirror Mirror? My students have really enjoyed the first one! Stick Dog looks interesting as well. Hope your upcoming reads are good.

  12. I just loved Mirror Mirror, so I need to pick up Follow, Follow. I love anything by Amy Krouse Rosenthal. Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH was one of my favorites when I was in elementary school. I afraid to go back and reread it because sometimes I don't always like what I did when I was young.
