It's Monday! What are you reading?

I’m joining Jen & Kellee (and many other bloggers) in discussing what we are reading this week. Join us! Go to their site and link up your own blog.

Flying through Newbery books – YAY! Helps to focus on a specific amount for the week. My goal is to finish as soon as possible so I can concentrate on some other books. I do still have about four from the 50s and 60s that I haven’t been able to get yet.

My favorite Newbery this week: From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler.

Another favorite was a reread for book club tonight – John Green’s Will Grayson Will Grayson. God I love Tiny Cooper.

On deck – the 70s for Newbery!

Happy Reading!
Katherine

  1. I loved seeing From the Mixed up Files after just finishing Navigating Early. I started Will Grayson, Will Grayson last summer and it didn't grab me. I'll have to try again. LOVED your posts this week and thanks as always for all of the book recommendations!

  2. Melanie, it took me about 50 pages to get into Will Grayson, Will Grayson (the 1st time). I really didn't like one of the characters. Give it another go when you have time. Tiny Cooper slays me. :) And thanks!

  3. If you ever have time, try some of the others by Konigsburg. I think they're all quite good-special reads for certain kids. Glad to see about all those old Newberys. Some are definitely worth offering to students.

Hi there Katherine, so many favorites here. From the Mixed Up Files happens to be one of my absolute favorites as well as A Wrinkle in Time and The High King - I've read the entire Prydain chronicles - simply beautiful. I haven't caught up with my Newbery reading for quite sometime now. :)

  5. Oh, I too, am a fan of Tiny Cooper - felt like he leaped off the page and was singing to me. What a fantastic character. I am also a huge fan of From the Mixed up Files - we listened to this a few years ago on a road trip as an audio book and really enjoyed it as a family.

  7. WILL GRAYSON!!!!!!! Yes! I love that book. I agree with Kellee, the audio is brilliant. I love that it's set in Chicago, too. I could imagine a lot of it. Makes me love the bean even more. Tiny Cooper is such a classic character. Love him.
