I once read
a book
Where the
character was giving thanks.
He asked,
“What if tomorrow you woke up,
Only with
the items you had given thanks for today.
What would be left?
What would be left?
Your
family?
Friends?
Health?
What?”
Friends?
Health?
What?”
As I
result, I give thanks.
Daily.
Daily.
When I
drive.
When I
shower.
When I
walk.
When I go
to bed.
Sometimes it sounds like prayers,
Often it
does.
But I am
blessed beyond measure.
For this I
am thankful.
I’m
thankful for the people in my life:
Family.
Friends.
Students
and their families.
Colleagues –
both near and far.
Authors
that inspire my students.
Authors
that inspire me.
I’m blessed
with relatively good health,
As are many
of the people I care about.
I’m
thankful for medicine,
Doctors,
Hospitals.
To help the
others get back to health too.
Mostly I am
thankful for my spirit.
To be born
with one looking for gratitude.
Or maybe
that I evolved to this place.
I love
finding beauty –
In others,
In nature,
In simple
acts.
The sunrise today moved me to tears.
As I walked my dog,
Who I thought would be gone months ago.
For this and everything else,
I am thankful.
